Grief Literacy: The Language & Listening of Loss

Tuesday, July 14, 2026 | 6:00-7:30 PM
The Sanctuary for Healing & Liberation in the historic Chace Mill (Burlington, Vermont)

Grief is part of life, yet most of us were never taught how to talk about it—or how to show up for others when it happens.

This workshop offers a gentle introduction to grief literacy: the language, listening, and presence that help us connect and care more meaningfully during times of loss and transition.

Designed for community and family members, this gathering supports those who want to feel more prepared when reaching out and accompanying others through difficult moments.

This is a book-based discussion and learning experience grounded in Kindred Grief Care. Participants will receive a digital copy of the book and take-home resources to support continued learning beyond the workshop.

Together we will explore how to:

  • Recognize both universal and unique grief experiences
  • Support various reactions and responses to loss
  • Catch stories with increased sensitivity and skill
  • Use language to connect and validate

*This is not a mental health offering or support group.

Facilitated by:
Francesca Lynn Arnoldy, author, researcher, and doula (along with special guests from the deathcare field!)
